A burst pipe on Glenhove Road and Central Street enters a third week unattended

Councillor for Ward 74, Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjuku, reported the burst pipe on August 8.

The burst pipe on Glenhove Road and Central Street in Houghton not only poses a danger to motorists and pedestrians, but has entered its third week of not receiving any attention from Johannesburg Water.

A reporter visited the overflowing excavation on August 24 to find water running in different directions, especially towards the M1 offramp/onramp.

The councillor for Ward 74, Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjuku, said she first reported the matter on August 8, but nothing was done.

Kayser-Echeozonjuku visited the excavation on August 23 and said the unattended leak and excavation not only caused dangerous driving conditions, but would soon result in a sinkhole if left unattended.

The Gazette reached out to Johannesburg Water and will update the story with a response.
