Parktown Boys’ U14 football tournament kicks off with thrilling opening day

Day one delivers drama, teamwork and determination as school boys go head-to-head.

The opening day of the Parktown Boys’ U14 Football Tournament on September 12 delivered fast-paced football, determined performances and plenty of reasons for excitement as 15 Johannesburg schools began their campaigns.

Jeppe High School for Boys fought hard but were edged 2-1 by Trinityhouse Glenvista in one of the day’s early matches.

St Stithians College earned a narrow 1-0 victory over Fourways High School, while the hosts, Parktown Boys’ High School, started strongly with a 1-0 win against St Albans College.

Crawford College Lonehill matched that scoreline with a 1-0 triumph over Reddford House Northcliff.

Pretoria Boys High School stamped their authority with a commanding 3-1 win over St Peter’s College, while St Benedict’s College overcame Reddam House Bedfordview 2-1 in another competitive fixture.

In Pool D, St David’s Marist Inanda secured a 1-0 result against King Edward VII School, and St John’s College were defeated 1-0 by CBC Boksburg.

The tournament, running over three days, will continue through the weekend before reaching its climax on Sunday, September 14, when the finalists battle it out for the trophy. With so many teams still in contention after a thrilling first round, the next stages promise even tighter contests and the kind of performances that define champions.
