Locals are encouraged to visit the Wanderers Club’s badminton practice games

Wanderers Club’s badminton social Sundays are from 08:00-12:00

Flying shuttlecocks, running, and grunting dominated the Wanderers Club’s badminton courts on September 21.

Wanderers Club badminton player Gail Elizabeth Mcloughlin, who holds 19 national titles, said she has been playing at the club for nine years.

“I’ve done quite well over my many years of playing, mainly in older age categories. I enjoy that I can forget about the world and simply play my game.”

McLoughlin added that she also enjoyed the fitness side of the sport, which kept her motivated to play with the younger generations.

Jens Walther, who played competitively in Germany, said he enjoyed meeting new people in South Africa and playing at the club as often as he did.

Frederic Moneta said he used to play competitively in France until his shoulder injuries.

“Playing at Wanderers has been great because there are good players to play against and we have fun.”

Badminton players play at the club on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays.
