A Norwood woman is appealing to the public for help in locating her brother, William Benjamin ‘Gerald’ Vries, who has been missing since October 3.
Vries, aged 58, was last seen around 14:30 near Louis Botha Avenue and 7th Street in Norwood. He was wearing blue tracksuit pants and a red golf T-shirt when he went missing.
He is described as being of small build, 1.40m tall, with brown hair and brown eyes.
His sister, Debbie Marks, said the family is increasingly concerned for his safety. Vries has an intellectual disability and may become frightened easily.

“He is afraid of men who are bigger than him and may try to hide if approached,” Marks said. “He’s not well known in the community because he only moved to Norwood last year, so he isn’t familiar with the area or the people around him.”
Marks added that this is the first time he has been missing for such a long period, and the family is desperate for his safe return.
Anyone who may have seen William or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact his sister, Debbie Marks, on 067 743 5824.
