St Alban’s College Tournament crowns St John’s College U15 water polo team champions after unbeaten run

St John’s College U15 water polo team made a splash at the St Alban’s College Tournament, going unbeaten to claim the championship title in spectacular fashion.

There was no stopping the St John’s College U15 water polo team as they powered their way to victory at the St Alban’s College Tournament, delivering a flawless performance that left spectators in awe.

From the very first whistle, the boys showed their intent. They stormed through the group stages with four commanding wins, netting a remarkable 52 goals while conceding just 14. Their precision, energy, and teamwork set the tone for what would become a dream tournament.

In the quarter-final, St John’s faced a strong St Stithian’s side, but quickly took control of the game, securing a confident 16–5 win. The semi-final saw them up against Pretoria Boys High, yet again the team’s rhythm and relentless pace proved too much to handle as they cruised to a 13–5 victory.

The final, against Affies A, was the ultimate test. With the crowd holding its breath, St John’s displayed the same calm determination that had defined their campaign. Their defence held firm while their attack moved with purpose, sealing an 11–6 triumph and the championship title.

It was a performance built on consistency, discipline, and unity. The achievement also highlights the depth of talent within the team, as 12 of the 14 players have been selected to represent various Gauteng interprovincial squads in December.

For these young athletes, the win marked not only the end of an exceptional season but also the beginning of exciting new opportunities in the pool.
