Women Developing Others observes International Women’s Day at Paterson Park Library
Women Developing Others encouraged women to remember their worth during a celebration event to observe International Women’s Day.
Self-worth, God, and the importance of community were topical at the Women Developing Others (WDO) International Women’s Day celebration at Patterson Park Library on March 6.
Observed on March 8, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Guests at the celebration included Ouma Khasu, Nono Mtshazo, a Family Life South Africa representative, and a SAPS member from Norwood Police Station.

Nicolite Ngwenya was the day’s master of ceremonies.
Founder of the non-profit organisation Khasu said the event was necessary to honour the achievements of women across various industries, while reinforcing the importance of independence and empowerment. WDO’s vision is to instil and implement confidence-building measures in women, individually and collectively.

Mtshazo explained that she met the founder at church, where she was passionate about the well-being of those around her. “As I began to get to know her, I could tell that she was passionate about community work. The founder also speaks about the importance of knowing one’s purpose, which is important, especially if it involves God, so that one can be sure they are aligned with what God has called one for.”
