Amid the relaxed chatter, the morning also offered moments of learning.

Councillor Tim Truluck shared insights on pensioners’ rebates, while Selena Bhrijlal, from the Local Choice Pharmacy, spoke about the importance of the flu vaccination.

Marylou Bawden, of Clear Path, encouraged a lighter, more organised lifestyle through decluttering, while conveyancing attorney Mark Blanckenberg highlighted key property considerations, including the value of keeping house plans and understanding defects.

For Capela, the annual event is a heartfelt gesture. He said it is his pleasure to host the occasion each year as a way of giving back to those who, in their time, have contributed so much to society and to Parkhurst.

As the morning drew to a close, it was clear that the true highlight was not only the treats or talks, but the simple joy of coming together.
