New and established Atholl Parkrun participants achieved new personal records

Atholl parkrun takes place at Winston Ridge Park every Saturday.

New and established Atholl Parkrun participants came out in droves and enjoyed the warm autumn morning on May 2 at Winston Ridge Park.

Participants had their eyes on their watches to check their times and beat their previous achievements, while others wanted to walk for fun.

Padi Abendroth, a regular parkrun participant, said, “I started parkrun in 2017; my son introduced me to the sport in Durban. It was not always easy because there was Covid-19, and then I had colon cancer, which has returned, but I remain strong.”

Abendroth added that May 2 marked her 211th parkrun, and not only did she do that, but also participated in the Midmar Mile, cycled, and played squash.

The event, run over 5km, is organised by 17 volunteers and takes place every Saturday morning at 08:00.

Atholl Parkrun looks forward to a year of good health, safe events and many milestones to be achieved.
