Parktown highlights Things We’ve Gotta Let Go Of

Community artists rally to support a local woman facing a serious health battle, with all proceeds shared between her, the Breast Care Centre of Excellence, and participating artists.

A special exhibition and community fundraiser, Things We’ve Gotta Let Go Of, will be held on May 16 at 11:00 at The Studio in Parktown North.

The event centres on the idea of releasing what no longer serves us: old versions of ourselves, outdated plans, and artworks that once mattered deeply, but no longer reflect who we are.

Priced intentionally to move, the artworks on show are not being sold because they have lost meaning, but to create space for something new and to support a member of the local art community.

Organisers say the exhibition is more than an art sale. It is a real-time act of letting go in support of a woman who has given tirelessly to artists and turned many ideas into reality.

She is now facing a serious health challenge without the financial backing needed to move forward.

All proceeds from the sales will be shared equally between the woman directly, the Breast Care Centre of Excellence (BCCE), the artists, and the gallery and event costs.

The exhibition invites the public to come, witness the works, take something home, and reflect on what they themselves may need to release.
