Courage festival continues to grow at Kingsmead College

A weekend of girls’ sport brings together 32 schools, highlighting talent, resilience, and opportunity.

Welcoming 32 all girls’ schools for a lively weekend of netball and hockey, the Kingsmead College Courage Festival returned from March 26 to 29.

What began as an U17 initiative has grown into a key early season tournament.

Head of sports Bianca Meyer said the festival was created to give more schools the chance to compete, guided by Kingsmead College’s value to encourage.

This year saw increased participation, with the event continuing to gain recognition and offering teams a valuable start to their season.

A standout moment came from Minerva High School, who secured third place in the netball tournament despite limited resources, embodying the spirit of determination the festival aims to promote.

Uplands College finished first in netball, followed by St Mary’s DSG in second.

With plans to expand and include more underprivileged schools, the festival continues to grow as a platform for young athletes to compete and thrive.
