Parktown crash ends high-speed pursuit after Victory Park cell phone robbery
A high-speed pursuit from Victory Park to Parktown ended with a vehicle crashing into a pole after suspected cell phone robbers allegedly targeted two women.
A suspect, allegedly linked to a cell phone robbery, has been arrested following a high-speed pursuit from Victory Park to Parktown on October 6.
According to security company Beagle Watch, the incident began when a parent collecting her children from a school in Victory Park was alleged to have been robbed of her cell phone.
Beagle Watch’s CCTV team tracked the suspects’ vehicle, while its specialised crime unit later spotted it in Melville, where the occupants allegedly attempted to rob another woman of her cell phone.

The security team, including area manager David Caseiro, pursued the vehicle from Melville to Parktown, where the driver lost control and crashed into a pole.
One suspect was apprehended at the scene.
Beagle Watch said the operation was a joint effort involving Vision Tactical, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s K9 unit and tactical response unit, as well as Parkview police.
Police have not yet provided further details about the incident or the status of the apprehended suspect.
