Paterson Park netball courts came to life on the evening of June 12, during the Norwood Fit Fusion (NFF) netball team’s warm up and practice.

The team began their practice with different warm up techniques, including running in a circle, throwing the netball to each other, while observing the game of the rules.

The team is made up of different age groups, from as young as 10 years old to full adults, giving both juniors and seniors a place to train, destress, compete, and support one another.

Coach Amanda Mposh founded the team in 2025 with a vision rooted in discipline, respect, self-love, and ubuntu.

“The aim was to create an inclusive space where young players and adults in the community can develop netball skills, build confidence, and grow together as a team, and as individuals.”

Practices are held twice a week, Wednesdays and Fridays from 16:30 to 18:30, at Paterson Park Recreation Centre, the team’s home base since inception.

“While the team does not yet have a consistent sponsor, NFF was proudly supported by Spar during last year’s August tournament. The tournament will return on August 15 at Paterson Park Recreation Centre, and the team hopes to attract more local support as it continues to grow.”

The coach commended her players for helping her run the netball team.

“Working hand in hand with coach Lerato, Minnie, Porche, and other players like Soso, Andiswa, and Chantelle, goes a long way and I appreciate them for keeping the movement going.”

Player Dimpho Maule said she enjoyed being part of the netball team, because it helped her keep fit, while building relationships with other players in the community.
