Hip hop, urban mega-fest comes to Joburg

JOBURG - Not content with simply bringing urban megastar Big Sean to our shores, the organisers of Axecess Jozi have seen fit to turn the concert into a festival of urban, hip hop and electronic music.

The event will see Big Sean joined by some of South Africa’s hottest talent in the genres on Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown, on 1 February.

Speaking on behalf of sponsors Axe, Mike Pocock said chart-topping, award-winning artist AKA, Khuli Chana, Teargas, DreamTeam and Reason will get the crowd on their feet, in preparation for the headline act.

“It is guaranteed to be a phenomenal gathering of urban music fans from across South Africa. Axe is building Axecess Jozi into a highly-anticipated and monumental annual event that will become a staple on the South African urban music calendar,” he said.

Pocock said fans could gain ‘axecess’ to festival experiences unavailable elsewhere by registering on the festival website.
