Febrewery: A month of food and beer pairing

JOBURG - A month of celebrating craft beer and food pairing has been launched by self-confessed ardent beer drinker and local business-supporter Chris de Beer.

Febrewery will run for the duration of next month at partner restaurants in Illovo, Parkhurst and Rivonia.

“No one can argue that the craft beer explosion has been nothing short of revolutionary,” said De Beer.

“The time seemed right to show discerning restaurant-goers and craft beer enthusiasts that their two passions can mix.”

De Beer said that each restaurant selected three dishes that Febrewery’s “go-to-craft-beer-guru” Jason Cederwall of Craft Liquor Merchants paired with a local beer.

“We’ve tried to mix it up so restaurant patrons will be able to enjoy their favourite local brew or restaurant dish, but also… experience new and exciting combinations,” he said, adding that each paired dish would come with tasting notes.

Local app-based cab service SnappCab came on board as the initiative’s transport partner.

“Responsible drinking and not driving is a cornerstone to the success of Febrewery. The service is available via the web or through the Apple App Store, on Google Play, and through BlackBerry World,” said De Beer.

Celebrate Febrewery at Beefcakes Restaurant and Rabbit in the Moon, Illovo, and at Rocket in Parkhurst and Rivonia.
