A walk through Little Ethiopia

JOBURG - A walking tour later this month will give sightseers an opportunity to explore the riches of Ethiopian culture in the heart of Johannesburg.

The Ancient Secrets tour will take in sights, sounds, fragrances and flavours, and end with a traditional meal.

The tour group will leave from the Smal Street mall, and take a walk through a part of the city known affectionately as “Little Ethiopia”.

Sightseers will learn about Ethiopian culture and experience traditional hospitality including a coffee ceremony.

There will also be a talk about the Amharic language, Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, Ethiopia’s Jewish links, the impact of Ethiopian people on Johannesburg, and Ethiopian food and spices.

There will also be an opportunity to shop.

The tour will take place on 22 February at 10am.
