Curious Incident returns to SA

JOBURG – UK-based alternative pop outfit The Curious Incident will return to South Africa for a five-city tour later this year.

The group will be joined by local performer Lark at their Johannesburg and Pretoria shows.

The announcement of the tour, which also includes shows in Bloemfontein, Cape Town and Durban, coincide with the release of the group’s new single Money.

“The Curious Incident will be back here in November and December to introduce their new EP, Penny Lonesome,” said local publicist Liny Kruger.

“[The group] is the alternative pop embodiment of that roller coaster feeling in your belly.”

Talking about their sound, Kruger described it as “a little Red Hot Chilli Peppers, a little Sting, a little Winehouse, a little Bruno Mars, and a lot more, depending on the weather”.

The new EP features Money, The Hunt, Diane, and Please Don’t Say, as well as some bonus tracks.

Group members Cavey Roberts, Mirko Piconese, Dan Bowery, and Diaz Meidiawan represent four different countries including South Africa, Italy, England, and Indonesia respectively.

“[They’re] a diverse bunch of great musicians who came together to see the rest of the world, stage by stage,” said Kruger.

Tour dates include:

25 November at Aandklas, Stellenbosch

29 November at Mystic Boer, Bloemfontein

4 December at Live The Venue, Durban

5 December with Lark at Arcade Empire, Pretoria

6 December with Lark at Rumours, Weltevreden Park, Johannesburg

13 December at Manila Bar, Cape Town
