Chicago Musical heads to Monte in April next year

‘Come on, babe, we’re gonna brush the sky. I betcha Lucky Lindy never flew so high ’cause in the stratosphere how could he lend an ear to all that jazz” and all that jazz it will be indeed when the ‘killer’ excuse the pun, musical Chicago returns to razzle and dazzle us here in Jozi.

The scene is set – a nightclub singer, a double-murderess, a smooth-talking lawyer and a cell block of sin surrounded by the glitz and glamour of  what has been described as the worlds sexiest musical opens at MOntecasino’s Teatro Theatre on the 20th of Apriol next year.

The cast and crew are all local and have just returned from an international tour to New Zealand and China. From the moment the curtain rises until the last thunder of applause, there is nothing like ‘Chicago’ being performed live on stage. Leads are taken by local stars of the stage Samantha Peo, Ilse Klink, Craig Urbani, Carmen Pretorius and Tandi Gavin. The sexy, stylish ensemble will once certainly razzle-dazzle South African audiences, and this great musical is simply … Broadway at its best.

The tunes are catchy and include the hits such as ‘Mr Cellophone’, ‘When you are good to Momma’ and many more.

Chicago is one of the most successful international musical hits of all time, having run on Broadway for over 15 years, and was made in to a movie starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger and Queen Latifah in 2002 and is a roller coaster ride of an enticing tale of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery – the makings of an intriguing plot indeed!
