Suburb Spotlight: Rosebank

Located centrally, allowing residents to work and play in the same area, Rosebank is a truly unique neighbourhood in Johannesburg. With a number of work opportunities, as well as leisure nearby, living and working in the same neighbourhood can be a reality in Rosebank.

There are few people in the City of Gold who can claim to work, play and relax in the same neighbourhood, but buying a property for sale in Rosebank makes that a real possibility. This leafy part of Johannesburg gives residents the chance to live in a hive of activity, without it feeling part of the massive urban sprawl cities we’re all so used to.

Local Stephan Potgieter shares his thoughts about living in Rosebank with us. “It’s great. I’ve hardly used my car since moving to Rosebank. Whereas before, I spent around two hours a day commuting back and forth, I can now wake up 30 minutes before work and still be on time.

“Rosebank is a little bit of Europe in the heart of Johannesburg, anchored by unique retail facilities and inhabited by even more unique residents, there is never a dull moment. The Jacaranda-lined streets and ample green spaces in Rosebank make it feel as if you’re living in an established suburb and not some sort of mass development estate.

“I think Keyes Art Mile is probably the hippest new inspirational development in Joburg, and the collection of shops and restaurants is great for a quiet stroll.”

With easy access from all sides, and also via public transport, Rosebank also boasts pedestrian friendly walkways.

Some other attractions in Rosebank include, but certainly aren’t limited to:

  • Doppio Zero
  • The Grillhouse
  • Marble Restaurant
  • Motherland: for light meals and coffee
  • Woolworths Cafe

Things to do:

  • Explore the Keyes Art Mile.
  • Enjoy high tea at 54 on Bath.
  • Watch movies at Cinema Nouveau and Ster Kinekor.
  • Have a drink after work at Mesh Club.

Try artisanal food at the Rosebank Sunday Market.
