Sandton Convention Centre to host Forum on China-Africa Cooperation

SANDTON – The Sandton Convention Centre was recently announced as the host venue for two conferences over the next few weeks.

The centre will host the seventh annual Africities Summit and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Heads of State Summit and Sixth Ministerial Conference.

The Africities summit will take place from 29 November to 2 December and will see a variety of local governments come together from various regions in Africa.

The ministerial conference, meanwhile, will take place from 4 to 5 December and will include a State visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Mati Nyazema, executive director for the centre, spoke of the upcoming events and the opportunities they presented for the continent. “This is an exciting time for Africa, as the region’s macroeconomic prospects remain positive for the near and longer-term future and the continent looks ahead to opportunities for progress,” she said.

“We believe the high-level Africa-focused summits are crucially important to the development of the African continent and we are proud to be the host venue.”

Nyazema added that the centre looked forward to welcoming delegates attending either of the two events and expressed hope that both would be a success.
