John Wick: Don’t mess with man’s best friend

Keanu Reeves plays The One, again, in the action thriller John Wick.

Reminiscent of Reeves’s previous action-packed role of Neo, in The Matrix, he now plays the role of ex-assassin John Wick.

Once again, he comes out guns blazing but this time it is to revenge his dead dog Daisy. John loses his wits after his dog, which his deceased wife leaves behind for him, is brutally killed by a Russian gang that enters his home to steal his 1969 Ford Mustang.

In the film, the audience is introduced to the type of man John was before he settled down with his wife. He is more than just a man who gets robbed and his dog killed, but a legendary hit man who is feared and respected by many.

He was part of a secret assassin society which he goes back into as he uses his connections to track down his dog’s killer, who happens to be the son of a Russian man he has worked with.

John Wick is evidently the latest addition to action hero films such as Die Hard, Terminator and Bourne; and thus a sequel wouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

The film follows a very basic storyline of revenge and a trail of dead bodies left behind by John and the wrath of his gun. One can argue that the moral of the story is to never mess with man’s best friend – his dog.

Watch this film if you enjoyed Reeves in the Matrix and want to see more of him shooting bullets and kicking butt. However, don’t expect him to dodge any bullets in this action thriller.

Don’t watch this if you have seen enough of The Matrix and would really rather like to see Reeves in a different role than that of playing the role of The One.
