Helping more people be #BraveTogether
In an effort to reach more people who struggle with mental health issues Maybelline has partnered with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group to host a WhatsApp chat line.
Creating safe spaces and making mental health resources easily available is important for society as a whole, no matter their age, gender, or background.
In an effort to further this mission, worldwide makeup and beauty brand Maybelline has partnered with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) to create a dedicated WhatsApp counselling chat line available to all who need someone to talk to.
Under the banner #BraveTogether, the chat line will be available seven days a week from 08:00 to 17:00.

According to Maybelline global brand president Trisha Ayyagari, over the past two years the brand has been working with non-profits around the globe to make a tangible impact on people struggling with anxiety and depression.
“Maybelline has always believed in the power of making things happen in your life. And we know that mental health is critical in feeling ready to do that.”
She added that the brand wanted to use its global footprint to ‘de-stigmatise’ the conversation around mental health and make support easily and readily available.

“Now, more than ever, we need to be there for those living with anxiety and depression.”
To drive that message, the campaign has enlisted the voices of medical doctors Dr Nokukhanya Khanyile and Dr Anesu Mbizvo, and entertainment personality Roxy Burger.
According to Mbizvo, people needed to realise that it was completely normal to have moments of struggle, it was what you did in those moments that mattered.
“The more times we struggle and keep quiet or try to repress our feelings, the more we push our bodies, mind and selves to their limits.”
Burger, who has openly struggled with mental health on varying levels, hopes that #BraveTogether will reach more people in need.
“I am privileged in that I have had access to treatments and therapy throughout my life, but this isn’t the case for many. So many people simply don’t have the access they need, and this is where Sadag comes in,” she said.
“You can’t pour from an empty cup. So grab yourself a cup of your favourite drink, sit in the comfort of your own space and let them help you be brave, together,” concluded Khanyile.
