Nedbank teams up with Sadag for a good cause

Nedbank Running Club launches their Runified 3.0 series targeting a serious awareness campaign at the George Lee Park in Parkmore.

Individuals from various parts of Gauteng with the passion and heart for running all met at George Lee Park situated in Parkmore for the launching of Nedbank’s Runified 3.0 series on July 27.

The Nedbank Running Club teamed up with the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) on a special mission to raise an important awareness regarding mental health. The launch began with the MC Mosibodi Whitehead welcoming social and professional runners to the discussion followed by a 5km run.

Chairperson of Sadag Dr Zama Mbele stressed how important it is to join a healthy social group such as a running club, especially when one is affected by any form of mental illness. “When surrounding yourself with the people that know you and pick up the slightest change, they will ask you right away what you are going through without any judgements in hopes of finding the perfect, healthy solution.”

Head of group sponsorship and cause marketing of Nedbank Tobie Badenhorst concluded, “Following the global pandemic [Covid-19] we identified an epidemic – an increase of mental illnesses.

“Running can simply be a catalyst for many individuals going through a lot mentally. From a Nedbank point of view we are truly proud of our involvement.
