One of the most incredible moments in Fihliwe Molefi’s life
Freddie Jackson is a well-known American soul singer, who was an important figure in RnB during the 80s and early 90s. his well-known hits are Rock Me Tonight (For Old Time's Sake), Jam Tonight, and You are My Lady.
Bryanston resident Fihliwe Molefi had the opportunity to meet iconic soul and RnB crooner Freddie Jackson backstage after the multi-award winner performed some of his famous hits in front of a packed Centre Court audience at Emperors Palace.
Molefi is the Peermont human resources executive and has met a lot of celebrities in her line of duty, but meeting this legend and having a wonderful conversation with him was something she never thought of.
“We spoke of how much he appreciates South African fans and that he did half the job as they were mostly singing along to his songs, and he was touched that we know all his songs.”

She pointed out that the moment of meeting a famous person is often surreal, as it was hard for her to believe that she is standing face-to-face with Freddie Jackson, someone whom she has only seen on a big screen and heard on the radio.
“I felt a mix of emotions: happiness, nervousness, and even a bit of awe. He had just finished performing on stage, and he grabbed a burger to eat. I had to wait a bit for him to finish eating his burger, but he was so nice while we waited; he kept chatting to me and telling me how hungry he was, so I did not mind waiting.”
Molefi added that it was worth waiting to meet him, chat with him, and take pictures. She would love to meet him again because he is such a lovely and down-to-earth human being.
“It was a real dream come true to rub shoulders with a legend like Freddie Jackson.”
