Bramley non-profit initiative appeals to the community to support Christmas Drive for families in need
The Kamohelo Skhosana Foundation is seeking donations of food, clothing, and essential items to brighten youth's holidays and prepare them for the upcoming school year.
The Kamohelo Skhosana Foundation is appealing to community members and local businesses to help bring festive cheer to vulnerable families through its annual Christmas Drive scheduled for December 12.
The initiative aims to spread love, restore hope and remind children that they are valued and cared for, particularly during a time of year when many families face financial challenges.

Based in Bramley, the organisation is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people and families through practical support and community-driven initiatives.
Founder and executive director Kamohelo Skhosana said the Christmas Drive was rooted in the belief that small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.
“Christmas is a time for giving, spreading love and bringing people together. It is a time when we are reminded that sometimes the smallest act of kindness can make a child feel seen, remembered and loved,” Skhosana said.
This year’s drive will focus on supporting 100 children aged six to 14, with the foundation hoping to provide them with more than just gifts.
Skhosana said the aim is to create a festive experience filled with happiness, laughter and lasting memories.
Needs for the drive
The foundation is appealing to individuals, families, businesses and organisations to contribute towards the initiative through monetary donations, essential items and other forms of support.

Among the most needed items are school shoes, school bags, non-perishable food, clothing and toys. “Donations of new or gently used clothing and toys are welcome, provided they are clean, safe and suitable for the children.
“While toys and clothing will help bring festive cheer, school shoes and school bags will assist families in preparing for the new school year. Food donations will also help ease the pressure on households during the festive season.”
Skhosana added that for families experiencing financial difficulties, providing Christmas gifts and essential items can be a challenge.

The foundation hopes that community members will help ease this burden and ensure that the children can experience the joy associated with the holiday season.
“When we come together and give what we can, we can change someone’s life, even through the smallest act of kindness. Together, these small acts of kindness can become something incredibly meaningful for a child,” she said.
