DA searches for candidate to fill Ward 90 vacancy

The Democratic Alliance (DA) invites eligible candidates who live and vote in Johannesburg’s Ward 90 to apply for the upcoming council vacancy.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) is calling for applications from eligible candidates, passionate about public service, to fill the Ward 90 vacancy in the Johannesburg metropolitan municipality.

Chairperson of the Federal Council Helen Zille emphasised that applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including being a registered voter and resident in the municipality, as per Section 4.13 of the Candidate Nomination Regulations. “Candidates who do not meet these residency and voter registration requirements are excluded from applying. Preference will be given to aspirants residing specifically in Ward 90.

“The DA remains committed to ensuring that Ward 90 is represented by a candidate who truly understands and lives within the community. We encourage motivated and qualified individuals who meet the outlined criteria to apply and contribute to building a better Johannesburg.”

The DA requires candidates to meet at least five of the following criteria:

  • DA membership,
  • Ordinary residence and voter registration in the municipality,
  • Grade 12 or NQF4 equivalent qualification,
  • At least two years of political activism within the DA,
  • Possession of relevant scarce or specialised skills,
  • Leadership or management experience,
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a public representative, and
  • At least two years of community or political activism.

Applicants must submit a comprehensive application through Apply.voteda.org, where they should upload an updated CV and complete the online nomination form.
Supporting documents required include a copy of their ID and a certificate of good standing, which must be obtained from their public health office by September 13.
“Aspirant candidates will be required to appear before a selection panel,” concluded Zille. “Details in this regard will be communicated by the provincial office. For further information, please contact your provincial office. No late applications will be accepted.”
