Local voices shine in new We Are South African podcast

Two locals are putting South Africa’s spirit in the spotlight with a new podcast celebrating everyday heroes, creativity, and resilience.

Two Joburg locals are helping bring South Africans’ everyday stories to life through a new podcast series that celebrates the country’s resilience and creativity.

The We Are South African podcast, launching mid-November, features authentic stories from people across the country, from young innovators to community builders, sharing what makes them proud to call South Africa home.

Sithembile Ntombela from Sandton, who serves as Brand South Africa’s marketing general manager, said the series aims to highlight the heart of the nation through its people.

“South Africa is bursting with untold stories of courage, creativity, and hope. This podcast captures the heartbeat of our nation, the people who make us who we are.”

The project is produced by creative entrepreneur Zareef Minty, who says the goal is to remind South Africans of their shared strength.

“We wanted to create something that uplifts and inspires. It’s about reclaiming our narrative and amplifying the voices that make this country great,” he explained.

Minty added that episodes will be released weekly, each profiling a new South African who is making a difference in their field or community.

The series also ties into the Play Your Part initiative, encouraging citizens to take pride in contributing to the country’s progress.

For Ntombela and Minty, both proud Joburgers, We Are South African is more than just a podcast; it is a reminder of how local stories can unite and inspire.
