Hyde Park High is cooking up a show you can’t miss

Something is sizzling at Hyde Park High, as they prepare to stage Step It Up, an original musical full of energy, music, and dance.

Hyde Park High School is stirring the pot and preparing a cultural feast for audiences with its original production, Step It Up, set for July 25 and 26.

After a quiet period for musical theatre and dance, the school is bringing back the heat with a show packed with talent, creativity, and excitement.

Written and produced by Rayna Music, Step It Up is guided by the skilled direction of Tate Mhanduru, Danielle Bentel, Hlulani Sabela, and Khanyisile Radebe. Abel Mambote, from Dance Culture, spices things up with choreography that promises to leave audiences mesmerised.

“There’s something special about Hyde Park High,” said Bentel. “It’s always an honour to bring people together and celebrate our learners’ talent. It’s been a while since the stage was alive, and now culture is back on the menu!”

The revival of the arts is being served with a side of dedication from the school’s leadership.

Head of school Melanie Kallie, alongside long-standing community member Kim Barow, has assembled a top team of professionals to mentor the students and reignite Hyde Park’s cultural flame.

“Passionate educators are what drive a school,” Bentel added. “Watching our learners bring this production to life is the sweetest reward.”
