Security officers pursued a suspect after an alleged attempted cellphone robbery at a Petervale shopping centre in Sandton, where shots were fired on Wednesday evening.
A robber remains at large after an alleged attempted cellphone robbery at a shopping centre in Petervale, Sandton, where shots were fired on the evening of March 4.
According to reports, the incident occurred near the intersection of Cambridge Road and Frans Hals Street at about 19:05, prompting a response from community policing forum (CPF) members, private security, and law enforcement officials.

Authorities cordoned off parts of the shopping centre while responding to the scene, and residents and shoppers were urged to avoid the area until it was declared safe.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mpho Tshetlhane said. “It is alleged that the suspect attempted to rob the victim of his cellphone at a shopping centre in Sandton at about 20:30. The security officers gave chase. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. No one has been arrested yet.”
