The fifth annual Festival of Chariots brought together people of all backgrounds for two-days of celebration, music, and service to the community.

Held under the theme: Culturally many, spiritually one, ISKCON servant Vibhu Caitanya Das said the festival aimed to promote unity, social cohesion, and shared humanity in an increasingly divided world.

One of the major highlights of the two-day event was the traditional hand-pulled chariot procession through Sandton on Saturday morning. Accompanied by live devotional music, energetic dance performances, and chanting, the procession brought vibrant colour and excitement to the streets before culminating in a lively festival atmosphere at Sandown High School.

Festivalgoers enjoyed a wide range of activities and attractions, including live music and cultural performances, meditation and mindfulness experiences, holistic wellness exhibitions, vegetarian cuisine, colour festival celebrations, and entertainment areas for children.

“The Festival of Chariots is ultimately about bringing people together through joy, spirituality, culture, and service to the community,” said Das.

“Designed to create a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds, faiths, and cultures.

“In a fast-paced city environment, the festival creates a rare opportunity for people to reconnect with one another in a meaningful and uplifting way.

“Our food for life initiative also provided free vegetarian meals to the attendees during the two-day event in partnership with local community organisations and volunteers.”
