Morningside Country Club hosts JBA Masters bowls showcase
The Morningside Country Club hosted a weekend of high-quality bowls as players battled across four categories for the coveted Perfect Delivery Johannesburg Bowls Association Masters 2026 titles.
The Perfect Delivery Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) Masters delivered a showcase of elite bowls at Morningside Country Club on August 28 and 29, with experienced masters sharing the greens with emerging talent.
Described as the highest level of tournament in the district, the JBA Masters brought together a field selected on ability and performance at club, district, provincial and national level.

The tournament featured six current and former Proteas players in the men’s and women’s fields, district players as well as up-and-coming players.
Bowlers competed across several categories, including Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veterans and Women’s Veterans, with 12 players in each division.
Competitors were divided into two sections, with the respective section winners meeting in the final to battle for gold.
Garry Fraser of Morningside Country Club said the quality of the competition made it difficult to single out individual performances. “The finals were particularly closely contested, bringing out the very best of all the players,” he said.
The final day of the tournament was livestreamed, allowing bowls enthusiasts to follow the action and experience the quality of competition on the Morningside greens.
“We are extremely proud of our record in providing greens that are of the standard that is needed to host such a premier event,” Fraser said.

The club’s reputation as a venue for major bowls competitions is set to continue. Morningside has been appointed as a host club for the Bowls South Africa Women’s Open Nationals next season, when players from around the country will converge to test themselves against some of the best in the country.
Beyond elite competition, Fraser said Morningside is committed to making bowls accessible to everyone, from experienced players to those picking up a bowl for the first time.
The club hosts a wide range of high-quality bowls events, while also catering for newcomers, corporate groups and fun bowls days.
