Johannesburg team brings Bok energy to Red Bull Box Cart Race
A Johannesburg box cart team tackled the Red Bull track in green jerseys and face paint, braving a high-speed crash on the course.
A Johannesburg team navigated a course in a low-slung cart built with off-road tyres, open-frame steel and Red Bull branding.
Dressed in green Springbok-inspired jerseys, helmets and face paint, The Livingroom Referees brought heavy Bok energy to the course.
Speaking after the race, team captain Jandré Conradie described the experience as stressful but enjoyable. “I was shivering to hell, and then we were so fast, too fast for that zig-zag portion,” Conradie said. “We had a crash there actually. Luckily, not so bad, so we continued.”

Conradie said the team focused on proper welding, quality steel and sturdy wheels while sticking strictly to weight limits. He advised entrants to stick to weight limits and push their cars to the maximum. “We never took shortcuts. Everything was built to the best of our ability. Once we had done that, we left the rest to the track.”

He added that the friendships built among team members and their supporting families made the day memorable.

His advice to anyone considering entering the next Red Bull Box Cart Race is: start early, work together and never let your teammates down. “I want to say thanks to everyone who came here today,” Conradie said. “I want to say thanks to my team. They are freaking legends, and most of all, I want to say thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ.
“Winning Red Bull Box Cart was incredible. We are definitely going to enter the next one,” the team said.
