Redhill School parents host Santorini party for staff members
Parents created a Mediterranean experience for teachers and administrative staff as part of an annual appreciation celebration.
Redhill School parents brought a taste of Santorini to the school’s staff room on October 6, celebrating teachers and staff with a Mediterranean-themed party.
The annual event is organised by parents to show appreciation to staff working across the school, from the early learning centre to the senior school and administration.

Parent representative Heather Hodges said the celebration also aims to bring parents together and encourage community involvement.
“We want to get as many parents involved as possible. So, that’s sort of where we build this community.”

Hodges said about 220 staff members were included in the celebration, with parents working with local businesses and personal contacts to create a special experience. She said the party included contributions from businesses such as Baglios, Scooters, a yoghurt stand, and Doppio Zero, which sponsored coffee.

The Santorini theme was chosen to ensure this year’s event was distinct from previous celebrations.
“Every year to be different. So, it can never look the same. That is our challenge every year,” Hodges said. Previous celebrations featured botanical and African themes, while next year’s planned theme is Bollywood.

Senior teacher Bernadette Johnston, in her third year at Redhill, said staff felt particularly appreciated by parents.
“We are so specially taken care of by the parents, treating us on Valentine’s Day and Teachers’ Day,” she said. Johnston said parent support made her feel valued and welcomed at the school.
