Your festive raffle ticket could help save vulnerable animals at Sandton SPCA

Supporters can stand a chance to win R50 000 while directly funding medical care, rescue vehicles, and shelter for local animals.

A R150 raffle ticket could put R50 000 in a lucky winner’s pocket, but for animals in need, it could mean emergency medical treatment, a rescue vehicle kept on the road, or food and shelter.

This is the thinking behind the SPCA festive season raffle, an initiative bringing together seven SPCAs from across South Africa to raise funds for vulnerable animals while giving supporters the opportunity to win R50 000 in cash.

Sandton SPCA is among the participating organisations, alongside Bethlehem SPCA, Johannesburg SPCA, Parys SPCA, Randburg SPCA, RandWest SPCA and Tshwane SPCA.

The raffle allows ticket buyers to select the participating SPCA they wish to support, ensuring they can contribute directly to an organisation whose work they value.

Sandton SPCA general manager Nick Smith said animal welfare is unpredictable. “One day we may be rescuing neglected animals, the next we may be dealing with large-scale cruelty investigations, emergency veterinary treatment or caring for a sudden influx of surrendered animals,” Smith said.

He says by choosing Sandton SPCA as a beneficiary, you help the organisation keep its inspectorate vehicles on the road, pay for life-saving medical treatment, feed and house animals in its care, or support outreach initiatives aimed at preventing cruelty.

“At a time when the demand for SPCA services continues to grow, every ticket sold helps us continue being there for animals when they need us most.

SPCAs receive no government funding for their day-to-day operations, making fundraising initiatives like this essential to sustaining our services.”
