Love is in the air…
Spoil yourself this Valentines Day with bespoke jewellery...
The mastermind behind the brand:
Vivek Parshotam, awardwinning
and multi-talented
South African jewellery
designer was born in Lenasia.
Raised in a musical family,
his love for music was
carefully nurtured to develop
an art form that would feed his
naturally creative spirit and
lead him into a wider creative
space. While his musical talent
is rooted in the tabla, an Indian
percussion instrument, his
familial musical legacy and
natural aptitude inspired Vivek
to explore multiple genres of
music that range from jazz to
the classics. Having performed
at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006
and 2008, Vivek has grown to
be a master percussionist and
has explored the rich diversity
of musical genres that today
has to offer. Music lies at the
core of Vivek’s heart and it
continues to create sounds
that capture the soul when he
performs all around the world.
Vivek studied jewellery
design and manufacture
in 2003 at the University
of Johannesburg. He was
awarded the first prize for the
SA Mint Design competition
during his first year of
studies. While still studying,
this accolade captured his
imagination and inspired
him to explore jewellery as
a career. He started with
a manufacturing company
and rose from apprentice to
manager to current director
of his own jewellery design
company, VK Jewellery.
Subsequent to the award from
SA Mint Design, he entered
the PlatAfrica competition
where he attained a top 10
position in the Professional
Category. Vivek’s passion for
design and his love for nature
make a difference to every
client he sees. He meets
clients by appointment and
makes time to engage with
them on a one-on-one basis
in the privacy of their own
comfort zone.
This reassures each client and
initiates a relationship of trust
for each piece of personalised
jewellery entrusted to him for
design, execution and delivery.
VK Jewellery caters for
the simplest designs to the
most luxurious, elaborate and
innovative pieces.
He prides himself in upholding
the values of quality in design
and materials, manufacturing
excellence and personal
service, principles which go a
long way to creating lifelong
relationships with his clients.
His passion for jewellery and
meticulous attention to detail
underpin his core values and
drive his aspiration to journey
with clients and celebrate
with them the milestones of
their lives.
Fabulous collection
Rock Blossoms is a collection
of jewellery inspired by the
plumeria flower. The collection
transforms this exquisite
example of simplicity found
only in nature into a unique
work of art designed with
semi-precious and precious
stones to create a natural
harmony in which the piece
and wearer are at one with
nature and enveloped in the
beauty of its true colour palette.
Rock Blossoms makes one
feel distinctive in every way as
the sparkle and lustrous colour
engage one’s inner being with
the world around. Flowers
have symbolised love and
Rock Blossoms
beauty for thousands of years.
Having mythical qualities and
significance, some believe that
humans and gods turned into
flowers. Flowers fill our homes
and our hearts with beauty.
They represent romance,
gratitude, joy and sadness.
Flowers embody love.
The beauty of natureinspired
Rock Blossoms and in
particular, the plumeria flower
in its own natural way. Beauty
in its purest and simplest form,
Rock Blossoms fires all the
senses from within to create an
aura around one – which only
the wearer can see but others
can feel. Rock Blossoms
create mystique and magic!
Just a few budget-friendly ways to spoil your loved one at home this month
- Set up a romantic movie night
in your very own lounge.
Dust off the old DVD player
or turn on Netflix and pick out
a selection of fabulous films. Next,
shake out your favourite picnic blanket
and lay it on the floor with a selection
of comfy scatter cushions to lounge
on. Make sure you have popcorn,
chocolates and of course, wine, ready
to go. For added bonus points, dim the
lights and dot your lounge with fairy
lights! - Cook up a storm. It’s not all
that challenging to whip up
a delicious pasta in a couple
of minutes and it’s a great,
budget-friendly way to impress your
loved one too. It’s the effort that counts
after all. - Pick her flowers from the
garden … or the neighbours
garden. Yes, flowers truly
are the way to a girl’s heart,
especially when they’re delivered
alongside a cup of her favourite coffee,
early in the morning.
Here's a full proof recipe
Bring a pot of pasta to the boil. While the pasta is boiling, fry a dollop of garlic and one
chopped onion in some olive oil in a pan. Wait for onions to become slightly translucent and
then add two tins of chopped tomato with a tablespoon of brown sugar to the pan. Allow
to simmer for a couple of minutes. Next, add in a packet of brown mushrooms, one tub of
cream and two tablespoons of basil pesto to the sauce and allow to boil until mushrooms
are cooked through. In a separate pan, fry bacon until crispy. When it’s all done, chop up the
bacon into small pieces and add to the sauce. And, voilà!
