Eyes

Digital eyestrain describes a group of eye and vision related problems that results from prolonged use of digital devices e.g. tablets, smart phones, laptops and e-reading devices, desk top computers.

These devices all emit a high energy artificial blue light. Long term exposure to this blue light can cause eyestrain, eye fatigue and even sleeplessness. Together with uncorrected visual problems and ocular surface disease e.g. dry eyes can all contribute to digital eyestrain.

In order to combat digital eyestrain, try the following:

  • Use the 20-20-20 rule which states that every 20 minutes of device use, you should look at Something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
  • Have regular eye check ups
  • Lubricate your eyes with artificial tears
  • Use blue control spectacle lenses when using a device

Humans were never designed to spend a lot of time on Devices but this is now our reality.

Teeth

The Myobrace System is an alternative solution to traditional orthodontics. It’s a preventative pre-orthodontic treatment that focuses on addressing underlying causes of crooked teeth, often without the need for braces or extractions of teeth, unlocking natural growth and development. Treatment is best suited to children aged three to 15 and the removable gear is only worn one to two hours a day plus overnight when asleep. These are invisible orthodontic braces and a potential solution to crooked teeth.

Tummy fat

The ‘spare tyre’ fat normally cushions and protects vital abdominal organs like the liver, pancreas, gut and kidneys. However, excess ‘tummy’ fat compromises their function and is risky for your health. Excess tummy fat interferes with the body’s normal hormones involved in regulating blood glucose levels, appetite, weight, mood and brain function. It also secretes proteins called cytokines which drive inflammation. Consequently, it’s associated with many chronic health conditions including dementia, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Flatter tummies, not fatter are better for your health!

Fertility

Woman are born with their eggs. They do not have the ability to manufacture new ones whereas a man makes new sperm every minute. As much as a lifestyle does play a role in the quality of the eggs, age is the biggest factor of egg quality. The longer one waits to use their eggs, there is a decrease in the quality of the egg and therefore a decrease in the chance a resulting pregnancy. Don’t wait, see a reproductive medicine specialist sooner rather than later to ensure you achieve your dream of having a family.

The way we treat our skins has revolutionised with technology and science. Today’s men and women are far more aware of results-driven treatments.
Tip 1: Use prescribed cosmeceutical products instead of over the counter cosmetic products. Tip 2: Antioxidants protect the skin from damage and enhances the effects of sunscreen. Tip 3: Monthly treatments with professional needs to be administered to maintain healthy skin and enhance the effects of home care products.

Muscles

Regular strength or resistance training also helps prevent the natural loss of lean muscle mass that comes with ageing.
That means it’s an important part of your overall fitness and it benefits people of all ages, plus it may be particularly important for people with health issues such as obesity, arthritis, or a heart condition. Strength training helps boost your metabolism (the rate your resting body burns calories throughout the day).
