
The meeting was orchestrated by Ward 90 councillor Gordon Mackay, who was particularly concerned about the speed at which vehicles drove on the pothole-riddled road. He said the road was badly deteriorating where St Andrew’s Road merged into Sutherland Avenue.
Dries van den Heever, regional manager of Region B said the road was increasingly being used as a back road to surrounding areas, and had not been made to handle the heavy load of traffic it now carried on a daily basis.
He said city council did regular maintenance work in the Sandhurst area and would be attending to the upkeep of the road, following Mackay’s concerns.
