A blissful 2020 for Sandhurst Pre- and Preparatory College

SANDHURST– Sandhurst Pre- and Preparatory College tell us about their school year amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 pandemic has made it a difficult year for most schools and while there were many downs there were also a lot of ups. Sandhurst Pre- and Preparatory College decided to focus on some of the positives. They shared with us some of their highlights, future plans and their 2021 wish list.

Marketing manager Caroline Williams said that through the tough year music brought them joy.

“The Jersualema Challenge that we got to participate in was a great highlight, the students practised during their music lessons and on the last day of school before they broke up for mid-term, they got together to perform.” she said.

They also learnt quite a lot about the digital space, having to go virtual due to the pandemic.
“The launch of our online program using Microsoft Teams and the manner in which teachers, staff and learners adapted to the new way of life with enthusiasm and determination,” she added as another highlight.

Some of their future plans are moving with the times with the launch of their robotics program and a brand new IT lab.

“We’re also excited to re-introduce IsiZulu into the curriculum for grades R to7!” said Williams.

Their 2021 wish list is just to have all their learners back at school and welcome many new learners into the nurturing environment the school is proud of.

At the helm of the school is principal Tracey Watkins. She has worked tirelessly to keep the school Covid-free and compliant. With positivity in mind she would like to share some well wishes for the festive season and New Year.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our school community, the parents, family members, our treasured staff and precious learners for their unwavering support during 2020,” said Watkins.

She added that even during this difficult year the school has developed in a number of different ways.

“The resilience that all who form part of our school family have shown, has resulted in the successes of our teaching and all we have to offer. Hence, 2021 will be a new and exciting year and we will strive for all that our school ethos stands for – a holistic vision where happiness, confidence and competence remain our core values.”

Her wish for learners and parents is to have a well-deserved, relaxing festive season and December break.

“I encourage you all to spend as much time as possible with family and loved ones – enjoy the moment!”
