A guideline to reduce external distractions when working from home
JOBURG – As the citizens of South Africa fight the pandemic by avoiding physical contact, workers take it a step further by working from home.

Even with an evident solution to the predicament that the world is currently facing, many still face the ongoing challenges of working from home.
President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on June 27. The President declared that the country will move to Level 4 lockdown for the duration of two weeks. The decision was made after the country faced an increase of Covid-19 infections during the early stages of the third wave.

The transition of the level has led to many changes in hopes of reducing the number of infections.
In joining the solidarity to fight Covid-19, many companies and organisations encouraged employees to continue working from home. This has shown positive signs in keeping everyone safe and for some, worrying less about the financial aspects of physically going to the office.
As more people are adapting to a new home life, it is inevitable to have noise and disturbances when living and working from home. These factors are usually in the forms of loud music, unauthorised parking of vehicles and many more.

For a homeowner and an individual who is renting, any related gardening sound is only acceptable between 06:00 to 18:00. With the new restrictions at play, social gatherings of any sort, are prohibited by law.
By law, when occupying a space in which others are situated, the law requires individuals to respect the rights of those who are situated in close proximity. This does not mean that one should not feel comfortable when living in their home. It does, however, mean that an individual should consider the comfort of others before doing anything.
Uncontrollable elements of noise and disturbances are easily managed by contacting the property owners or the law enforcement officers.

Not only do employees working for companies benefit from staying at home through saving lives and money, but also a few small businesses gain from this. Most small businesses spend the majority of their funds on renting an office.
Parts of South Africa encourage the growth of small businesses by offering permits. These permits allow business owners to operate their business from their homes. This reduces the biggest cost of renting an office.
Join the fight. Save lives while working from home.
