The U13 basketball team of Michael Mount Waldorf School brought their A game to this year’s St John’s College Basketball Tournament.
The non-spectator tournament, which took place from September 2 to 5, saw 32 teams participate across the U19, U15 and U13 age group categories.
Formats included a round-robin phase, with the top sides going on to play in the knockout stages.
After playing their way through the qualifiers, the Michael Mount U13 team made it to the final where they played against the St John’s Preparatory home team.

The nail-biting final saw the Michael Mount boys in red take home the U13 title 38–20.
According to Michael Mount Waldorf School headmaster William Bester, it was great to see the learners back on the courts competing again.
“There has been little opportunity for inter-school sports competition since the dawn of Covid-19, so we are thrilled that our boys had such a wonderful opportunity to compete in the tournament and we are especially proud of their achievement as a team.
“A big thank you goes out to our coaches who work tirelessly with our teams to ensure that they are well-trained and supported,” said Bester.
