From the streets of Hyde Park to the stages of clubs, local artist shares achievements
Hyde Park rapper Tshediso 'Edwardo' Motsiri receives advice from well-known rapper that guided him to make his latest album.
Tshediso ‘Edwardo’ Motsiri, who has been receiving a lot of positive attention after self-promoting his music in the streets of Hyde Park and Sandton, shares his recent achievements.
The young artist who made Sandton his home talked about a piece of advice that changed his life to the obstacles he faced when releasing his new album, titled Bad habits, based on the cultural shift he experienced.
Holding a poster on which was written, ‘I’m a singer and rapper with four albums. Please help me to release them’ for numerous months, Motsiri has finally established his support structure through his perseverance.
“I received support from strangers who had read my article. It was a new feeling for me, it was overwhelming because I never had that form of support in my life. Most people who started helping me were musicians, producers and radio presenters.”
His drive in becoming the next big thing since sliced bread started with a mere push from his friends back in Free State. Since then, Motsiri has never looked back.
In between recording and promoting music, he was given the heads up to go to a location where famous rapper Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, would be. “He told me the truth; he said that in the music industry you have to prove to yourself and that handouts aren’t given. He gave me helpful tips on how to make it which I am grateful for.”
The inspirational words for one of his favourite artists led him to create his latest album Bad habit which mainly talks about his upbringing, bad influences of old friends and the cultural shock that he experienced when relocated to Randburg.
“I was initially closed-minded before I made the album but once I diverged into other genres I began enjoying the process of making the album. It’s the first album that’s on all digital platforms.
I thank everyone that took the time to speak to me and help me toward my living my dreams.”
Edwardo Motsiri’s album is now available on all streaming platforms.
