Summer delight-themed dessert in Sandton

Locals uncovered the secrets to crafting a tantalising array of treats at Discovery.

Healthy food was the name of the game at this masterclass cooking course.

This is part of Discovery’s Vitality Healthy Food Studio hosted at its Discovery Place building in Sandton.

On this occasion, the event served attendees a menu centered around their summer delight-themed dessert – which was red velvet trifle with vanilla bean jelly and seasonal berries, chai panna cotta with grilled peaches, almond clusters, and granadilla coulis among others.

Elisheva Azoura, the chef who was helping the attendees prepare their dessert, said that the Vitality Healthy Food Studio aims to educate and inspire South Africans to cook healthy food daily, make time in the kitchen more enjoyable, and raise awareness about healthy eating to help fight lifestyle illnesses, obesity, and improve health.

“I have 25 years’ experience as a chef, and being one is part of my life. Making sure that people have the right cooking skills and eating healthy food brings joy.”

She added that these classes aim to promote cooking skills that support lifelong healthy eating habits to vitality members and the general public, with the premise that people who cook from scratch and use whole, minimally processed ingredients have healthier diets and lower disease risk.
