JW and JRA pass the ball around over Bryanston Pothole

The process to gaining an understanding over a persistent pothole on Grosvenor.

A road hazard on Grosvenor Road, shortly before the Westbourne Road and Belgrave Street interchange – when coming from West Hertford Road – is attracting more questions than answers in terms of getting the road issue fixed.

The Johannesburg Road Agency had originally been contacted on November 23 to identify solutions for the quiet corner in Bryanston. Their response was published under the headline JRA Waits for JW in the week ending December 1, 2023.

Johannesburg Water (JW) was contacted with an enquiry on January 24.

“I will liaise with the relevant department/s for comment and provide feedback as soon as I get it,” said JW spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala in a response on January 25.

The road remained in the same condition it had been in at the end of the previous year on February 11.

JW was contacted again on February 13 to remind them of this enquiry. Their official response was supplied on February 14.

“Please note that the burst pipe repairs have been completed at the site and a job card for tar reinstatement was created and sent to the Johannesburg Road Agency,” Shabalala said. “The work order with reference number 404690078 was created on January 27.”

The JRA acknowledged receipt of the follow-up enquiry supplied to them on February 15. No response had been received at the time of going to print on February 19. Their response will be made available once it’s received.
