Businessman Percy Koji lauds Sandton for centrality

Meet entrepreneur Percy Koji who explains why he chose Sandton for his business operations.

Businessman Percy Koji shared his motivation for choosing Sandton as his base of operations for over a decade.

Koji founded, manages and acts as the chairman of the Travel with Confidence (TWC) agency in Sandhurst. He also chairs the Africa Economic Leadership Council which he co-founded and is also significantly invested in wine through his brand, Percy Koji Wines.

Koji finds Sandton’s centrality within Johannesburg to be ideal for his professional needs, which motivated the travel entrepreneur to locate his operations within the region.

“Sandton is more central and also the headquarters to a lot of businesses, which is great for business development, opportunities and growth. The energy of Sandton motivates one to keep doing better.”

The opportunities to encourage more international companies to set up in South Africa to help reduce unemployment and contribute to the growth of our economy are some of the positive aspects of working in Sandton.

“Local job creation, and participation, are key to us in South Africa; it’s our collective responsibility to invest in our economy and create local jobs. South Africa is such a beautiful country with lots of potential and it takes more than a collaborative approach to support government in its effort to attract investments and reduce crime.”

Although a Ruimsig resident, Koji enjoys being able to unwind in Sandton and shared a few of his favourite places.

“The biggest opportunities you can ever have in Sandton are the restaurants and their people; the vibe is amazing. I like the energy of the surroundings – Maximilian at the Da Vinci, the Da Vinci, and Sandton city; very nice atmosphere.”

Koji made his intention to become a resident of the Morningside community, though laments that the decision is weighed against by the frequent traffic pile-ups in Sandton. “It can be a challenge to drive in and out of Sandton during peak time.”
He described the quieter world he was born and raised in, before becoming a successful entrepreneur. “I come from Nhole village in the North West. Moving to the city was the best decision, though I [still] have strong ties with my community in the North West province.”
