As the sun set on March 8, the fields of Montrose Primary School witnessed the culmination of weeks of hard work, dedication, and passion, as it was the last day of the biggest cricket and netball school tournaments.

This annual sporting extravaganza not only showcases the athletic prowess of young talents but also fosters a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

One could feel the electric excitement in the air as teams from schools across the Joburg North converged for a final showdown, seeking glory and the honour of being crowned champions.

Cricket tournament:

The tournaments have been a journey of skill refinement, teamwork, and resilience. From dazzling centuries to game-changing hat-tricks, the players have left an indelible mark on this year’s tournament history.

The teams, having navigated through intense pool matches and knockout stages, now stand on the precipice of glory. In the final match, players showed dedication and love for the game, and Rivonia Primary School took home the title.

Netball tournament:

Simultaneously, the netball courts were alive with the swift movements of agile athletes, showcasing their agility, teamwork, and strategic prowess. The netball tournament, a testament to the growth of women’s sports, has witnessed remarkable displays of athleticism and skill. The final match was the culmination of countless hours of training, sweat, and determination. The Montrose Primary School team took home the 2024 champion’s title.

As the last echoes of the final whistle faded away, the Night Challenge tournaments concluded with a grand closing ceremony. Teams gathered to celebrate the spirit of competition and the friendships forged on the battleground.
