Cheers to the Irish Saint in Sandton

Bryanston Sports Club and Morningside Country Club hosted lively St Paddy’s Day celebrations for their communities.

The best traditions are the ones that last forever, prompting innovation with each new cycle: from fashion to cuisine, green beards, and emerald beers.

Although St Patrick is endeared as the Saint of Ireland, Patrick was originally born in fourth-century Great Britain ahead of arriving in Ireland as a 16-year-old.

In Ireland, Patrick would go on to convert many of the Celtic paganism practitioners into Christians, which earned him the title of a saint.

Did you know that Saint Patrick’s Day is the celebration of the day St Patrick is said to have died? This year’s patronal celebrations honouring the legacy of Saint Patrick began a day early for some residents who attended the festivities arranged by the Bryanston Sports Club on March 16.

The merrymaking continued into March 17, when the Morningside Country Club hosted their own festivity honouring the life of St Paddy.
