Randburg police have confirmed the armed robbery at Bryanston Jewellers.
According to police, a group of armed men stormed the store and smashed display glass at 14:00 on September 30. The suspects made off with an unknown amount of jewellery escaping in a hail of bullets. They fled Winifred Mandela Precinct (formerly Nicolway Shopping Centre) in a red Nissan and grey hyundai sedan.
No injuries were reported and the suspects are still at large.
Jewellery store: A target
Unfortunately, this is not the first time jewellery stores have been targeted at the centre. In May 2015 a separate store was hit: UPDATE: Nicolway speaks out after robbery.
In the same year, in July there was an attempted robbery, read more here: Attempted robbery at Nicolway Mall.
In August 2016 suspects broke into the store by smashing a window.
Again in August 2020, six male suspects broke into another jewellery store in the same centre by breaking the display window using housebreak-in tools.

It appears a gang of armed suspects entered Winifred Mandela Precinct (formerly Nicolway Shopping Centre) at 14:00 today. Law enforcement and security are on the scene.
An employee at the centre said, “I saw about eight people with handheld guns. I am not sure how long it took… maybe about five minutes. Shots were fired as they were leaving.”
