Crawford International Sandton learner dazzles on the stage in Disney’s Aladdin Jr production
From My Son Pinocchio to Aladdin Jr, Kiran Moodley continues to impress with his dedication, discipline, and love for the stage.
Crawford International Sandton Pre-Primary and Preparatory is producing stars left, right, and centre, and one of them is Kiran Moodley.
The Grade 5 learner is set to dazzle audiences with his performance in Disney’s Aladdin Jr at the People’s Theatre.
The young talent is preparing for his role in the enchanting tale of Aladdin Jr, promising a memorable experience with captivating music, including the beloved ballad: A Whole New World.
Kiran plays Babkak, one of Aladdin’s loyal friends, and also takes on a brief role as a chef.
Speaking to him about his characters, he said he enjoyed them because they were similar to him, as they both liked good food.
Kiran noted that this production of Aladdin, the Disney Junior version, is a different take on the classic story.
“The plot is the same, but it is a condensed version. Some characters, for example, the monkey Abu, are not in this production.”

Kiran’s favourite song in the play is: One Jump Ahead, and he loved the choreography, calling it fun, and relishing the opportunity to perform it.
“Changing costumes quickly is one of the most challenging aspects of my role. I need to change costumes during the play, and changing into the next costume quickly can sometimes be a challenge.”
Kiran’s preparation for his role involves a lot of teamwork and discipline.
“The whole cast does stretching exercises, a 10-minute cardio workout, and vocal warm-ups.”
He added his involvement in this production came after his successful role as Pinocchio in Disney’s My Son Pinocchio earlier this year.
After enjoying that experience, he auditioned again for Aladdin Jr and was thrilled to land the role.
“I love the acting, and having the opportunity to experience and play different characters.”
Kiran concluded by stating that, as a young actor, he had learned important life skills through the production.
“I have learned to be disciplined in both rehearsing for the play and in my schoolwork, and managing my time well.”
