According to Kate Traill, the public relations and events co-ordinator at the IIE’s Varsity College Sandton, the day was structured to ensure that all the students had the opportunity to participate and experience the different sporting codes. “Each student was assigned to a team, with a dedicated sports committee team leader guiding them throughout the activities. 12 teams were formed, and they competed against one another in basketball, netball, volleyball, touch rugby, 5-a-side hockey, and 5-a-side football.”

She added that the unique aspect of the event was the format of the games, with each team playing against each other in fifteen-minute intervals with one-minute rest breaks. “This setup allowed participants to engage with multiple sports in a short and dynamic timeframe, offering them a well-rounded experience.”
