Ladies to Legends 2025 inspires future female leaders

The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton campus hosted Ladies to Legends 2025, empowering female students with real-world leadership insights and inspiration from dynamic women in leadership.

In a powerful celebration of women’s month, The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton campus recently hosted its much-anticipated Ladies to Legends event, an annual initiative designed to inspire, empower, and celebrate female students.

This year’s theme: Ladies in Leadership, focused on equipping young women with the mindset and tools needed to step boldly into their leadership journeys.

The event brought together students, staff, and a line-up of accomplished guest speakers for an evening that was as motivational as it was memorable.

A dynamic panel discussion served as the centrepiece of the event, exploring crucial leadership topics such as building confidence, fostering connections, and taking risks.

Guided by the poised and energetic MC, Tumi Ndlovu, assistant branch manager at Network Recruitment, the conversation struck a powerful balance between professional insights and personal stories.

Ndlovu encouraged students to embrace opportunities and lead boldly with confidence. “You don’t have to wait to be given a voice. Own the room, even before you have the title.”

Kayla Jameson, a third-year IIE Bachelor of Commerce student and chairperson of the Social Committee at the Sandton campus, brought an authentic student voice to the panel.
As an active member of the student representative body, VC Voice, Jameson spoke passionately about stepping outside your comfort zone. “Take risks and believe in yourself. Growth comes from discomfort. Surround yourself with people who inspire and uplift you. It makes all the difference.”

Also on the panel was Tsholofelo Bogatsu, head of finance at The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton campus. Drawing from her professional experiences, Bogatsu emphasised the importance of resilience, and leading with empathy. “Trust in your abilities. Real leadership is not just about strength; it’s about compassion, integrity, and bringing others along with you.”

The messages from the panel struck a deep chord with students, as many left the event feeling more equipped, confident, and motivated to pursue leadership opportunities, both on and off campus.

A fourth-year IIE Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching student, Aaliyah Palmer, shared how the event impacted her. “The event reminded us that leadership doesn’t start once you are in a leadership role. It starts with believing in yourself, being bold, and building each other up. I left Ladies to Legends 2025 more empowered and motivated.”
