Sandton SPCA golf day and calendars raise funds for animal care

The Sandton SPCA held its annual golf day in an effort to raise funds to rescue and care for animals in need.

Set against the backdrop of one of Johannesburg’s most elite golf courses, the Sandton SPCA golf day brought together corporates, golf enthusiasts, and animal lovers for a memorable day of sport, while raising funds for animals in need.

As one of the Sandton SPCA’s cornerstone fundraising events, the golf day, held at Houghton Golf Estate on October 1, plays a critical role in supporting the organisation’s mission to rescue, protect, and care for vulnerable animals.

Sandton SPCA chairperson Nick Smith said: “This day is about so much more than golf; it’s about community, compassion, and commitment to those who can’t speak for themselves. Every rand raised today helps us keep our doors open, provide medical care, shelter, and love to animals in desperate need.”

Participants enjoyed a world class round of golf, interactive sponsored holes, vibrant on course entertainment, and valuable networking opportunities.

The festivities didn’t stop on the fairway. The event closed with a celebratory dinner and prize giving ceremony, along with an exciting live auction featuring luxury holidays, artwork, and other sought-after items.

One of the highlights of the day was the launch of the Sandton SPCA 2026 calendar, a beloved annual initiative that helps fund the organisation’s lifesaving work. “Our 2026 calendars are out, and they play a big role in helping us care for the animals.

“We are calling on corporates to either take calendars on consignment for staff, or buy them as year-end gifts for clients. Your support would mean so much to us, and to the animals who rely on us.”
